National consultation on inclusive education in Pakistan

Integration is a necessary pre-condition for inclusion, but is not a solution.

This is one of the key messages that came out from Pakistan’s National Consultation on Inclusive Education, organised jointly by Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE), Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education, Sightsavers International (SSI) and International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI). The consultation took place on 27-28 March 2006 in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The speakers included people with disabilities, professionals, policy makers, administrators, academics, and representatives of international organisations.
