The Rotary Club of Newbridge is running an exciting new art show event, which will raise money for Sightsavers and other charities.

RTÉ DJ and Newbridge local Keith Walsh was on hand to help launch the inaugural Art Fair, which will take place in the Town Hall from 7-9 February.

The Art Fair will exhibit a vast and diverse array of high-quality work produced by local, national and international artists. It presents an exciting opportunity for Kildare-based art enthusiasts to own a piece of affordable fine art.

All artists are donating 30% of everything sold to Sightsavers and a selection of local charities.

Eleanor Swan, a world-renowned ceramicist, who is a proud Newbridge native, is delighted to be one of artists participating.

“I am thrilled to be involved in this project. It’s such a worthy cause and it’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase the wonderful, creative artists and artistic talents that we have in Kildare,” she said.

“The poet Thomas Merton once said: ‘Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time,’ so we are inviting as many as possible to come to our exhibition and enjoy the inspiring work on view.”

Other featured artists include landscape artist Grainne Dowling, bog oak expert Brian O’Loughlin, abstract painter John Kingerlee, woodturner Emmet Kane, and many others.

The opening of the inaugural Art Fair will take place at 6.30pm on Friday 7 February, and entry is free.
