International Day of People with Disabilities

Each year on 3 December, join Sightsavers and play your part in creating a world where no one is left behind.

International Day of People with Disabilities is celebrated on 3 December every year.

In 2024, the theme of the day is amplifying the leadership of people with disabilities. Everyone has a part to play in creating an equal, sustainable future, so join Sightsavers throughout December in taking global action for disability rights and inclusion.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, published 75 years ago, laid out everyone’s entitlement to basic rights, including work, education, health care, and civil and political participation. But there is still a long way to go to ensure that the world’s 1.3 billion people with disabilities can access these rights.

Without united action, nothing will change.
