How many lives can you change?

A single course of antibiotics can help stop an active trachoma infection. Find out how you can help give more children like Naomi and Rakonin a brighter future.

When we reach communities like Naomi and Rakonin’s, we know how to protect them from trachoma – but we need your help.

When Maurice diagnosed severe trachoma in Naomi and Rakonin’s eyes, he gave them antibiotic eye ointment to stop the infection. Everyone in the community was then treated with antibiotic tablets, breaking the cycle of infection and stopping the spread of this disease.

These are straightforward treatments for a horrific disease, but they’re not possible without your kindness and your support of the incredible teams on the ground. Use the slider below to see the impact your gift could have to protect people in Kenya.

Mr Maurice Abony is an expert ophthalmologist who was leading Sightsavers’ trachoma work in Kenya when we were visiting Naomi and Rakonin’s village. He explained how trachoma disproportionately affects women and girls. “Women tend to spend more time with children who have active trachoma, exposing them to recurring infection,” he told us. “The ratio of women to men suffering from trichiasis is eight to two.”

By eliminating trachoma in communities like Naomi and Rakonin’s, women and girls won’t have to unfairly share the greater risk of blindness. Please, will you give to help provide sight-saving antibiotics that can protect more women and girls from this disease?
